Monthly Meetings

1. HDWA monthly meetings have been changed to the second Thursday in each month. Venue and time are unchanged - 7.30pm at Lenah Valley RSL Club, 188 Lenah valley Road. There is no meeting in January.

October Walk

Our October walk will be on Saturday 16 October, 2.15pm, along the foreshore from Berriedale Reserve to Windermere Beach. The walk takes 30-40 minutes each way plus 20-30 minutes at Windermere beach for rest and dogs' playtime.

The walk is mostly off-lead but dogs should be placed on lead passing Connewarre Beach, where ducks and other marine bird life gather.

Meet at car park next to Treasure Island Caravan Park, Berriedale. (see map below)

Turn right (signposted) off Main Road, Berriedale, about 150 metres past Berriedale Tavern, then left after a similar distance to the beach between the reserve/play area (left) and the caravan park.
Main Road Berriedale is reached from Hobart by turning left off the Brooker Highway a little way past Montrose High School, then immediately right under a railway bridge then sharp left along Main Road following cycle track and railway on the left.

Latecomers and those preferring a shorter walk can meet up with us at Windermere Beach, which is accessed via Knights' Point Reserve, Claremont.
In that case, continue along Main Road, past Caltex service station, turn right along Cadbury Road.
Pass Claremont High School on your right, take next right (80-100m) into Windermere Beach Road.
Knights' Point Reserve (clearly signed) on a right angle bend where Windermere Beach Road becomes Kestrel Road.
Former old people's home is on the left of the park.
Walk down the reserve, leaving a shelter on your left and the beach is straight ahead.
