Dog Walks
The KDWA and the Hobart City Council encourage
you to share the dog walking tracks and venues outlined in this web site.
The safety of you and your dog and care of the environment are important.
Some tips include:
-
Always let a responsible person know where you
are going and approximate return time. Remember to let them know when you
do return.
-
Wear sturdy walking
shoes as tracks may be rough and uneven.
-
Carry a first aid kit suitable for you and your
dog in case of emergencies.
-
Carry water for you
and your dog.
-
Take rubbish and your dogs’ rubbish out with
you.
-
Keep your dog under effective control
and maintain courtesy towards other dogs, walkers, horses and other users
of the tracks.
-
Do not allow your dog to chase, annoy or kill
native or domestic animals.
-
Follow minimal
impact bushwalking guidelines; stick to the track and avoid shortcuts,
which can lead to track degradation.
-
Enjoy your outing, do not overtax yourself or
your dog and be aware of fitness levels and capabilities
The following walks have been
documented by volunteers and we hope to add more over time. If you have any
suggestions for walks, or better still, if you would like to submit a
narrative for publication on this website, please contact the KDWA.
