Information:-

This is a circuit walk which takes you up the Myrtle Gully Track to Junction Cabin and returns via the Old Farm Trail.   Following this route provides better views of rainforest and waterfall features on the way up and more panoramic views on return journey.

Take the first turn on the right past the Brewery on Cascade Road and this leads to Old Farm Road, a narrow no through road 1.8 kms long.  Limited parking accommodating 4 vehicles is available at the end of the road.

The track initially heads towards the Main Fire Trail.

After 100m, where the track forks, you continue straight ahead on the Main Fire Trail.  The track is well formed and heads up a gentle slope.  Another  50 metres further along turn left into the Myrtle Gully Track.

This track takes you up through a gully and follows a pretty creek as it climbs steeply for an hour towards the Junction. The creek provides several drinking holes for dogs but it is advisable to carry water as none is available on the return leg of the journey.

Myrtle Gully is very pretty with rock features, mosses, ferns and small waterfalls enhancing the rainforest experience.  The track is uneven in parts and may be slippery when wet.  Stone steps help in the steeper parts.  Near the top the track leaves the gully and enters dry eucalypt forest.  The climb isn’t so steep from here.   Turn left at the end of the Myrtle Gully Track and continue a further 5 minutes up the Old Farm Fire Trail to the Junction.

The Junction is an open grassy area with a picnic table and wood fired barbeque. The stone cabin has a fireplace, table and chairs and water tank although water may not be available in the drier months.  This picnic area is a junction of five tracks that lead to the Springs, the Chalet, Lenah Valley and Old Farm Road.

Return via the same track.  This is a well maintained 4WD track which descends steeply to the Main Fire Trail.  After 10 minutes, head left where the track forks. 15 minutes later the track divides again and meets the Main Fire Trail.  Continue to the right along the Main Fire Trail for another 10 minutes to the carpark.
